Hi,
I have been using U-GRIB or several months now and feel I must complement you for an excellent program and fabulous service. I sail on the edge of the Pacific Ocean on Australian shore in what can be some wicked water and since being introduced to U- GRIB have had a significant reduction in the size of the dilemma posed by our fickle and at times violent weather. I find that your service is quite accurate and extremely helpful… Thank You.
I do have a couple of comments though. The things that I would have found handy that either exist and I haven’t discovered yet are:
1. A quick reference legend option that gives the user an overlay (ideally movable) on the chart of the exact meaning of the symbols on the chart eg the wind speed of the various forms of the arrows, the isobars and the like.
2. An option to display a time offset. I find that I often error in the mental transfer of the UTC time to my local time and that a window along the toolbar that displayed my local time for that screen display, even if the offset hours had to be input by the user would be handy. This would eliminate the frequent adjusting of the time to work out when the fronts and other nasties are likely to hit us.
3. As a sailor if an overlay that displayed the size and direction on wind waves, ground swell and current was also available this would be a major plus. I get some of this information off the www.seebreeze.com.au website which is also very useful but find their graphs far less easily read the your format. If these could be toggled in and out by pressing a F key or control key that would be brilliant.
4. User editable reference marks that could display the users current location of series of locations that are relevant to their needs. I would mark my next destination and current position as a useful quick reference tool.
Don’t for one moment think I’m complaining about your facility this is just a wish list or a comment that I’m not smart enough to find these facilities if they exist already.
With experience in software development I understand what has gone into developing this facility to this high standard and commend your work on this project.
I am very grateful and thankful for an excellent product and wonderful service that has been of enormous help to me and the many who I have introduced this service to.
Kind regards,
Fabian
